Church Hill, also known as the St. John’s Church Historic District, is an Old and Historic District in Richmond, Virginia. Church Hill is the eastern terminus of Broad Street, a major east-west thoroughfare in the Richmond Metropolitan Area, and one of the longest, which carries U.S. Route 250.
The Eastern end of Broad Street ends in Church Hill, which like many Richmond neighborhoods, as seen significant gentrification in recent years.
At one time, Church Hill was the place to live in Richmond because of its’ location and beauty. This neighborhood is situated to overlook the entire downtown area and the James River, which has the most magnificent view. St. John’s church is where Patrick Henry gave his notorious “Give me liberty or give me death” speech.
